Background
I'm a marine biologist with expertise in microalgae and environmental monitoring. My research career began in Ukraine, focusing on algal biofilms on artificial substrates, phytoplankton and benthic microphytes communities in the Black Sea, with the main application to implement EU directives. Since relocating to Australia in 2022, I’ve joined Flinders University (South Australia) and became part of Nano and Microplastics research consortium, expanding my work to include microplastic analysis. I am passionate about microalgae (diatoms, dinoflagellates), their biodiversity and functioning within marine ecosystems. I`d like to serve to find new solutions to tackle algal blooms. While my current research is not directly focused on this area, I am actively seeking opportunities to apply my expertise. At present, I am volunteering in monitoring efforts for Karenia mikimotoi blooms in South Australia, in collaboration with Prof. Shauna Murray.
