Dr Cintia Iha

I am a Research Scientist and curator at the Australian National Algae Culture Collection (ANACC) in Hobart, Australia. My expertise lies in applying modern omics technologies—genomics, proteomics, and metabolomics—to investigate the systematics, evolution, population genetics, and bioprospecting potential of algae. At ANACC, my primary research project is Intelligent Algae Bioprospecting, which integrates algal phylogenetics and multi-omics data with machine learning algorithms to predict promising sources of high-value bioproducts across diverse algal species. Prior to joining ANACC, I was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies (IMAS), University of Tasmania, where I focused on the microbiomes associated with phytoplankton.
