Background
I work in water monitoring and water quality testing, with an interest towards potentially toxic or harmful algae (including cyanobacteria, dinoflagellates and diatoms). My specific expertise is the identification of phytoplankton from a number of water sources (i.e. marine, coastal and freshwater). I have previous experience in the use of qPCR and the development of molecular techniques to help in the detection of toxins produced by cyanobacteria, although my interest is in monitoring for both cyanotoxins and toxin produced by dinoflagellates.
