Mrs Megha Joshi

Over the past few years, I’ve been working in water quality monitoring, where I identify algal species from marine, estuarine, and freshwater samples. I studied in science, which helped me build a good foundation in plant and algal biology, including some understanding of marine algae. My work mainly focuses on phytoplankton identification and monitoring environmental changes that may lead to algal blooms. I’m part of the Harmful Algal Bloom (HAB) monitoring program, where our team routinely analyses marine samples to support environmental protection and public health. Alongside this, I help train new staff to ensure consistency and accuracy in identification and reporting. I’m currently expanding my skills through molecular training, which I expect to complete by December, to strengthen my technical knowledge and apply it in future monitoring work. I’m passionate about protecting aquatic ecosystems and contributing to sustainable water management through accurate monitoring and continuous learning.
