Background
Based in Hobart at the Australian National Algae Culture Collection (ANACC) since 2014 and Collection Manager since 2023. ANACC is home to ~1300 micro and macroalgae strains, including ~120 dinoflagellate strains. The collection has a diverse range of strains from a variety of algal classes, ecosystems with a geographic coverage from the tropics to Antarctica. ANACC accepts new accessions, prioritising reference strains and type cultures for supply to research and industry. Prior to ANACC, background in micronutrient and nutrient chemistry in estuarine to marine systems, as well as experience in HPLC pigments and data management. Experienced in aspects in culture handling including isolation and establishment of microalgae strains including some difficult to culture species, ongoing culturing of strains, preparation and refinement of growth media, light microscopy, management of culture conditions and strain accessioning.
