Background

Queensland: I led the Aquatic Ecosystem Health (AEH) unit in the Science and Technology Division of the former Queensland Department of Environment and Science (DES) responsible for a range of wetland, water quality, and ecosystem monitoring programs for the Queensland Government, as well as contributing to the development of Queensland water quality guidelines. The results from the monitoring programs were used for preparation of annual report cards on the environmental health of waterways, including wetlands in catchments of the Great Barrier Reef, and 5 Queensland regional report cards for the Wet Tropics, Dry Tropics, Mackay-Whitsunday, Fitzroy, and South-East Queensland. Singapore: Deputy Director for Tropical Marine Science Institute (TMSI), National University of Singapore (NUS). I coordinated and supervised environmental-impact-assessment (EIA) style projects funded by Singapore government agencies. These studies included water quality monitoring (physical, chemical, and microbiological parameters), numerical modeling of hydrodynamics and water quality, and biodiversity and ecological assessments. I also coordinated marine research programs for the Singapore Delft Water Alliance. Developed and taught a 2nd year undergraduate module on Aquatic Ecology for the Department of Biological Sciences, NUS.
