We would like to introduce you to the Australian and New Zealand Marine Harmful Algal Bloom Network. This new network is a timely opportunity to facilitate Australian and New Zealand information gathering and sharing on marine harmful algal blooms. We will promote and disseminate information in relation to marine harmful algal blooms, including but not limited to training opportunities, conferences, workshops, and relevant Australian and international research advances. We will be available to provide advice and identify relevant experts when called on.

Membership of the network is open to all interested parties in each Australian state and in New Zealand.

Our first capability building exercise will be a week-long course on molecular identification of marine harmful algae, led by Professor Shauna Murray at University of Technology Sydney and sponsored by SafeFish (FRDC project 2024-046).

To register your interest in joining the ANZ Marine HAB network please go to https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/SMPPKYB

Further information on the upcoming workshop (1-5 December 2025) will be distributed to registered parties as it becomes available.

Please be advised that registration is still available for the International Conference on Harmful Algal Blooms to be held in Chile in October 19-24th (ICHA2025 – 21st International Conference on Harmful Algae).

Kind regards,
