Updates - October 2026

Dear ANZ HABNet community,
With our ANZ HABNet November events getting closer, we wanted to share a few updates and reminders.
Science Symposium – 25 November 2026
We received a fantastic response to our call for abstracts for the Science Symposium, and the program will be released shortly. Abstract submissions have now closed, but registration for the Symposium is still open. If you are planning to attend and haven’t yet registered via Eventbrite, there is still time to do so.
ANZ HABNet AGM and inaugural committee elections – 25 November 2026
Our AGM will also be held in conjunction with the Science Symposium. At the AGM, we will propose voting for ANZ HABNet’s inaugural committee, an important step in establishing the network’s governance and supporting its future activities. We encourage members to consider nominating themselves or a colleague to help shape the future direction of the network. More information is available on our website.
Karenia Technical Workshop – 26 & 27 November 2026
Workshop applications have now closed. Thank you to those who expressed interest. We will be in touch with all applicants soon.
Explore the ANZ HABNet website
We’d also encourage you to look at the new HAB Research Projects page on our website. We are developing the website to include highlighting harmful algal bloom research and activities across Australia and New Zealand. If your organisation is undertaking HAB-related research and would like to be included in this list, please contact info@anzhabnet.com.
Not yet an ANZHABNET member?
If you have registered for the Symposium or submitted a workshop application and haven’t yet joined ANZHABNET, please sign up via https://ap.surveymars.com/q/i5hG8Gf7b. Joining will help you keep abreast of network activities, research, events and future opportunities to connect with the HAB community.
We’re looking forward to seeing many of you in Hobart and to continuing to build ANZ HABNet together.
Best wishes
ANZ HABNet team
